Our Retirees

Below are the profiles of Desert Wind Labradors who have retired from service in our breeding program and will live out their long and wonderful lives here with us.

Dam: Ellie May Rising Star

AKC Number: SN85929908
Color: YELLOW
Whelp Date: September 2, 2001
Body Style: American Field

There is not a finer example of what you want in a yellow female Labrador Retriever than Ellie May.   Poise and confidence are embodied in her every move and smart as a whip.  And her puppies carry these traits to the max!

She really is The Duchess of the Desert Wind – not with any arrogance but with an absolute resolve to retrieve from sunup to sundown – in fact, she would keep going no matter what!

Pure devotion and a heart deep desire to please are aspects of her that all our clients are looking for and her offspring have delivered just that.

This fall Ellie May has retired from her duties of producing puppies and is pursuing a career as a full time Duchess!

Dam: Kate’s Beauty Triple J

AKC Number: SN79423505
Color: CHOCOLATE
Whelp Date: December 27, 2000
Body Style: English

Katie is a Lady – soft and sweet, she adds the dark chocolate factor to the Desert Wind breeding program.  Matched with Jake she has the ability to produce the rare liver nosed yellow labs.

Her personality is quiet but very persistent.  She retrieves with the best of them and absolutely loves the water.  Her body style is solid and she is medium height.  Her chocolate puppies range from milk chocolate to special dark.  Calm and laid back typify her puppies.

She is a tremendous asset to the Desert Wind.

Katie is now retired from the breeding program and spends her time sniffing out birds in the field and sleeping in front of our fireplace!

SIRE:  Jake Junior the 2nd

AKC Number: SR08282109

Color: CHOCOLATE
Whelp Date: May 16, 2003
Body Style: English

Jake is the epitome of what you want in a Labrador Retriever. He is strong and solid, completely devoted and produces the absolute best in puppies that carry these stellar traits. His heart to hunt and retrieve is unsurpassed – truly the heart of a Champion.

His nickname The Otter comes from his ability to dive underwater due to a special flap in his nose that closes off. And speaking of water, he will retrieve in absolutely any weather – in or out of the water because of the bear like coat he has.

What a magnificent sire!

Jake has gone into semi-retirement this summer … He is getting a well deserved rest!  Not to say that he will never sire another litter but for a while the young sires will be doing the hard work:)
